About

Ryan Coons is an experimental  physicist, nuclear engineer, and occasional karate instructor who tried to live by the law… but now he must… LIVE BY THE FIST! So, armed with the abrasiveness of five uncouth men and an encyclopedic knowledge of 80′ s music, he champions the meek, the shy, the nerdy, against the evil forces of religion, neo-conservative politics, and manatees.

Coons graduated from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania with a B.S. in physics (minors in mathematics and political science). He subsequently earned M.S. degrees in physics and nuclear engineering from Miami University, and Purdue University, respectively. His research concentrated on the improvement and testing of an novel external cavity laser; the characterization of laser-produced plasmas for use as extreme ultraviolet light sources for next-generation semiconductor manufacturing; and plasma reheating as a scheme to improve the resolution of remote material detection sensors for homeland security applications.

Coons currently works as a laser integration engineer in San Diego, CA. He as previously been a research scientist, a barback, an adjunct professor, a TA for physics labs, a tutor, a bartender, an autoworker, and a pizza deliveryman.

Yellow Hat Guy’s Super Fun Adventure Bus provides a soapbox for Coons to analyize and hopefully cure the human condition.
